Welcome to Super Nintendo World, the closest thing you can get to diving head-first inside a video game and experiencing the likely effects of swallowing one of Mario’s magic mushrooms.

The Guardian’s recent story absolutely sold me on wanting to visit the soon-to-open Super Nintendo World, even if it may be as overpriced, crowded and plasticky as I imagined.

One might have to summon up a hefty supply of money and patience in order to fully participate - a $40 wrist band here, an hour of queuing there, a $10 cupcake to keep you going and so on. But it does sound like a pretty amazing voyage into living life as a Mario, with a mix of IRL plaster-cast moving thwomps and augmented reality Rainbow Road races.
